JUNE 6 - McCOOK - Be There!!!

Against all odds, Democrats from across the 3rd District fight lonely and out-numbered political battles every day. The flag of our cause has never been born by strong committees; we have never known the luxury of a heavy war chest; and we are sometimes overlooked by our own within the State.

Instead, more often than not, the cause of the Democratic Party in the 3rd District has been born by the individual. This is an individual who shows no fear of being the lone voice of dissent at work, at school, in the media, at church, and sometimes even at home. These are individuals whose beliefs are so near to their core that they can put every ounce of their strength into their candidate’s campaign, lose to ridiculous bumper-sticker slogans, and yet, the following day, start thinking about the next campaign.

No group in all of politics has more heart than one 3rd District Democrat. It is because of these individuals that the 44th Legislative District Democrats of Southwest Nebraska are most honored to host the quarterly meeting of the 3rd CDO in McCook. Our sincerest hope is that we get the privilege of meeting ALL of those individuals from across the State who have, through their tenacity, kept the Democratic Party in the 3rd District for so many, many years. We firmly believe that if all of us, as individuals, achieve unity under the flag of the 3rd CDO we can become a viable force in State politics.

At this point in time, it would seem imperative that we maintain high percentage turnouts to these events in order to counter balance our small numbers if we are ever to achieve viability. For those attending, we have prepared a little gift basket that includes, among other things I’m told, coupons from local merchants. We encourage you to stay the weekend and enjoy the beauty on our rivers, reservoirs, and nature.

A complete list of area events will be available. Though motel space is usually plentiful, there are several statewide events going on in McCook this weekend. If rooms are a problem, call me- I will find you a Democratic host family who will be glad to put you up. We in the 44th appreciate the time and travel that some of you will undergo, but most of all we appreciate and thank you for keeping the Democratic Party alive and well in the 3rd District.
